Mission Impossible 4: Phantom Protokoll

Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol (Ernsthaft, wieso übersetzen sie diesen Titel mit dem sperrigen, deutschen "Phantom Protokoll"? Klingt meiner Meinung nach total bescheuert... egal). Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is once again asked to save the world but this time his own team is the target. A mission in the Kreml goes horribly wrong and suddenly the IMF doesn't exist anymore and the hastily and not even purposefully thrown together team consisting of computer-genius Benji (Simon Pegg), tactic adviser Agent Jane Carter (Paula Patton) mysterious "chief analyst" William Brandt (Jeremy Renner and yes he was the main reason to watch this film xD)and of course master spy and super agent Ethan Hunt has to go on a wild goose chase through Dubai and India to stop a crazy mastermind from starting an nuclear war.
In one word: It was glorious.
I have to admit, I love action movies and Ethan Hunt was my childhood hero, so maybe I'm a tiny little bit biased.
If you aren't too keen on impossible fanzy-schmanzy high-tech stuff or completely unrealistic film stunts, you won't find much to enjoy.
But then again: who watches MI-movies if they aren't?
For what it is and wants to be - a humorous action flick with not much depth and awesome visuals - it surpasses every standard and expectation.
I was on the edge of my seat for a good half of the movie, loudly cheering and fearing for the characters and although I know that good always wins eventually it was thrilling to see how often they were actually too late.
The performance of all actors were good, not exceptionally oscar-deserving but still incredibly fitting for this setting and filming. I loved how big Jeremy Renner's role was and how well he portrayed everything (comic relief, action hero, emotional core) he had to.
Simon Pegg as Benji had me laugh myself to stiches sometimes: his comical timing was perfect and seriously, if you go into a movie which has Simon Pegg in it you want Simon Pegg to be funny and this is exactly what you get here. He is almost unfit for field work but thank God Tom Cruise is there to save the day. ;D
Paula Patton had to suffer the typical "Woman-in-action-movies"-syndrome: she looks pretty, may seduce the rich guy they need for something and uh yeah, overall I liked her role becaues the cast was generally well adjusted and everybody was cuddly. <3
Tom Cruise... uh... yeah, he was good. Some wooden mimic in some scenes but overall: he is Ethan Hunt, the only one we know so yeah I liked him. xD
What really blew me away were the visuals: Dubai, Mumbai, the chasing scenes during a fucking sandstorm (AWESOME!!!) and the car-porn were fascinating and colorful and ohhh all the great stuff they did with the tech gimmicks! The scenes in Kreml and everything that happened in that hotel and ohhh!!! *_____* I love shiny stuff. Really. Go watch it and just enjoy the blingbling everywhere! *__*
Ohhh and the other highly enjoyable part was the obvious slash that was going on everywhere. I mean everywhere!!! Hunt/Brandt especially had some awesome chemistry which made for great hurt/comfort, for perfect unrequited love tragedy and Benji/Will would make a perfect snarky goofball couple. *le dreamy sigh*
Oh and the Indian Tony Stark was nice, too. Really.
If you want to see, funny oneliners and perfectly executed stunt and action sequences (although the blowing up of Kreml looked uh... lazy xD)and just for the sake of brilliatn beautfil

My dad was sick last night so we watched Thor. It was as silly as expected. The plot? MUSCLES. Reason for plot? LOKI HAS FEELINGS OKAY? And I don't care, really, if it's quintessential siblings or lovelorn pining, I just want to see Loki following Thor around going 'Thoooooor. Pay more attention to me! You never do anything with me, you just hang out with your new friends! I wanna play!" or something like that and hanging out in corners sobbing softly to himself.
Ahem. It was ridiculous and the CGI was terrible and wtf Jane why no character? and Sif is made of badass and - generally very enjoyable. In a stupid way. It was really fun to make fun of!
Beware of the babbling idiot I become as soon as someone mentions Thor and Loki

Bei der Überschrift des Filmplakats
Kein Plan. Keine Hilfe. Keine Wahl
dachte ich erst, es wäre 'ne Verarsche xD
Aber deiner Review nach werd ich mir den Film wohl doch mal zu Gemüte fühen, wenn er auf DVD *hust* draußen ist.
