funny XD
I always knew there had to be a reason why I despised this version soooo much;
I mean, I am happy for those who were brought up with this, as I can imagine that any LotR-Fan would be more than eternally grateful to have his or her favorite book made into a movie. But... well...
Admittedly, I grew up with the Peter-Jackson-Version and of course, the special effects, the actors, the make.up and what else were incomparably better than the methods from 1978. So I have to say that I am spoiled when it comes to The Lord of the Rings.
Nonetheless: I do think that people - even in the 1970's - were aware of how... unspeakably silly, cranky and cheap this kind of movie is. The art and especially the background scenery leaves me in awe but, the voices, the characters and above all, the singing makes me burst into fits of laughter.
The Balrogscene...
MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH... forgive me, but how can I possibly take this ... butterfly-lion-boar-thingie serious??? I do have to admit that I am not a fan of mingling cartoon and live-action scenarios but this is just ridiculous. Including Gandalf's hesitating attempt: "You cannot... pass? Please? With sugar on top?" And including the goblin/orc-statues in the background... I am not convinced that such a thing would have been built by the dwarfs of Moria, hm? ;-) AND ABOVE ALL INCLUDING BOROMIR'S HELMET... seriously guys, there was a reason for Tolkien to speak of winged helmets, especially in Gondor... and there was also a reason why the Rohirrim were designed to resemble the Vikings or Northern folks and not the Gondorians. So... EPIC FAIL!
So, to sum it up, I do not want to criticize the animation or anything else concerning the techniques on this film. I just criticize -and this strongly - that this movie is boring to an extent no human has ever reached before and it totally fails in portraying or even conjuring up emotions. No one is to sufer with the fellowship because no one can stop lauging of yawning long enough to actually follow the poorly told story.
EDIT: Kay, now I found something that is even more... ahhh... well... look at this and answer me some questions:
1. What's with the nose-obsession?
2. Why is Elrond ... well... like... shining? O.o
3. Bilbo is an ape... since when? O.o
4. THRANDUIL THE ELVEN KING???!!! It's the frog-like-thing with the crown... Legolas' father actually XD
You should watch the whole part if you want to be bored to death XD
