Lots and lots of things happened since my last entry (I really should update this more but being on the internet is hard, you know).

- I spent a fantastic weekend at [livejournal.com profile] ayawinner's some three weeks ago! It was suuupergreat. We basically did nothing but watch movies the whole time and talk and squeal the whole time and just reassuring each other that we are the greatest and bestest friends on earth and that we are really really lovely and wonderful people. We are. Gawd, [livejournal.com profile] ayawinner, we are.

This is our film list and I shall now write short reviews for everything on it:

1. Billy Elliot: Not the film, but the musical mind you. AND IT WAS FANTASTIC, WOW. The story is the same as in the movie but what really makes this musical stand out are the child actors (THAT BOY CAN DANCE BALLET AND TAP DANCE AND SING AND ACT AND OH MY GOD WOW WHERE ARE YOU GROWING THESE KIDS) and the absolutely mind blowing music. Thank you so much for showing me this, ayawinner, THANK YOU. I have completely underestimated that play. If you have the time/the money, go and buy the DVD people (it comes with subtitles which I was so grateful for cause I wouldn't have understood a word otherwise xD), you will not regret it, this is such a well-done powerful play with amazing actors.

2. History Boys: This one had been on our to watch list since early 2014, I think? And we never got around to watching it because everything else kept getting in the way (like the entire filmography of Jason Statham, this is important guys, okay), but we finally watched it. I still think it works better as a stage play and I am still not one hundred percent sure about how they treat homosexuality in this one (I get where they were coming from, but really, this shouldn't be used as a prop as much as it was) but watching Dominic Cooper as Dakin and Stephen Campbell Moore as Irwing losing themselves in this weird hero-worship-forbidden-love-relationship is fun as hell, as well as the dozen and twelve jokes and snide remarks at the education system that favours ruthlessness and irony over sincerity.

(Fun fact German wiki just brightened my day with this fantastic piece of summary:

Nach der Feier zu Ehren ihres Erfolgs fordert Dakin Irwin auf, seinen Schwanz zu lutschen, obwohl er selbst heterosexuell ist, und provoziert ihn so dazu, seine Homosexualität einzugestehen.

This... this is very much not what happened and can I interest you in the concept of bisexuality cause I am PRETTY SURE that a heterosexual boy would not want to fuck his male teacher no matter how big the crush. Wow. This is so fucking hilarious ahahhahahahahahaaaaaa.

3. Men with Brooms: A rewatch of our favourite movie about curling! Okay admittedly it's the only movie about curling that I know but I STILL LOVE EVERYTHING. Paul Gross is so frigging adorable in that film, the humour is whacky, at times even cartoonish, but you still get the feeling that you are dealing with crazy but loveable honest characters (like the little kid saying that his mum is not sick but drunk of her ass but he loves her anyway). If you want a silly sports movie and want to get really invested in brooms, go and watch this immediately. The demon beaver awaits you.

4. Der Pate Since [livejournal.com profile] ayawinner and I have the attention span of five year olds we conceived the following foolproof plan: "Okay, we can't pay attention to anything that is longer than an hour tops so we will just watch an hour of 'Der Pate' each day, alright?" We had of course not taken into consideration our really unhealthy obsession with Tom Hagen, the consigliere of the Corleone family. This was one of the best moments of the whole weekend, I must say as [livejournal.com profile] ayawinner and I are probably soulmates, since the exchange went something like that: "Oh my God, I kinda forgot about Tom Hagen, he is my favourite character!" - "OH MY GOD MINE TOO???" - "OH MY GOD WHERE WERE YOU ALL MY LIFE WE HAVE SUCH GREAT TASTE!!!" and then, when we had come down from our high, the movie was already two thirds over so we watched the final hour as well and fantasized about Sonny and Tom having a really unhealthily loyal, violent relationship ... and also made fun of Apollinaris Apollonia and Michael, because really Michael you have Kay Adams aka Diane Keaton waiting for you at home, please refrain from defiling the Sicilian dorfjugend.

5. Wächter der Nacht This was entirely my fault, I don't even know why I said we should watch this, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. It's one of my favourite fantasy movies and as [livejournal.com profile] ayawinner put it so eloquently "They have this very effortless looking grimy, darker aesthetic going on due to it taking place in fucking Russia." (She worded it differently but I am pretty sure the word 'aesthetic' was uttered.) I really wish the second movie wasn't so utterly batshit insane and incomprehensible. But eh, I am here for Anton's sad, tortured face and Kostja's bad fashion choices and Svetlana not knowing how soap works.

6. Rocky Again, the musical. We skipped that for reasons of "It's fucking two and a half hours long and we already watched a really long movie, let's do something else."

7. Jason Statham "Let's do something else" translated to watching a two hour long Uwe Boll movie, "Die Schwertes des Königs."
Jason Statham, the things I do for you.
It wasn't even that horrible. Like... I have seen worse but it was INCREDIBLY FUCKING BORING and very beige. "Ocker" even. One good thing though, it made us fall asleep really fast.

8. Four Brothers We didn't get around to watch it, sadly, but it's on our list. For reasons of me saying "Hey, I didn't watch this completely yet, but it might be relevant to our interests?"

10. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol: YES I KNOW I SKIPPED #9. FOR A REASON THOUGH, so yeah I accidentally grabbed the wrong dvd from my shelf and brought this along instead of Nochnoi Dozor and although [livejournal.com profile] ayawinner is not very fond of neither Tom Cruise nor Jeremy Renner (I cannot blame her, I really need to get over my fond nostalgia for Tom Cruise XD), she watched it with me and yeah I still think the whole scene in the Burj Khalifa is one of the best and most intense action scenes ever done. (AND OKAY YEAH I AM SHIPPING BRANT AND HUNT, OKAY OKAY, THEY ARE CUTE TOGETHER ALRIGHT, AND I LIKE LAID BACK HUNT A LOT, REMEMBER HOW NERVOUS AND FRAGILE HE WAS DURING THE FIRST MOVIE AND NOW LOOK AT HIM AWW BEING ALL MENTOR-Y AND WISE UHHH).

11. Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas [livejournal.com profile] ayawinner I get the slight feeling that this whole weekend was me screaming at you "LET'S WATCH THIS"? Cause yeah this is exactly what happened here as well. This is still one of my favourite Dreamworks movies, mostly because Eris is such an amazing villain and Sinbad/Proteus is a sweet best-bros-pairing and I WANT THEM TO HAVE THIS REALLY BITTERSWEET RELATIONSHIP WITH LONG WINDED LETTERS AND FIVE DAYS ASHORE AND PINING, LOTS AND LOTS OF HORRIBLE PINING OH GAWWWWWD.

12.Chess A rewatch actually! Last time we already watched it in its entirety but this time we skipped forward to our favourite parts and made fun of Idina Menzel's dress (that white monstrosity, whoever dressed her needs to get their eyes checked REALLY FAST).

AND NOW TO THE BEST PART AND THE REASON FOR ME SUDDENLY REMEMBERING ALL OF MY JAPANESE LESSONS FROM THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO:

9. Free, 1. Staffel AHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA THIS IS ME LAUGHING AND I HAVE BEEN LAUGHING FOR THREE WEEKS STRAIGHT AHHAHAHAHAHAHA CAUSE I FORCED [livejournal.com profile] ayawinner DOWN INTO GAY SWIMMING ANIME HELL WITH ME HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No really, I basically screamed her into submission and since Free! has some of the nicest, most adorable characters ever (I am talking about Makoto Tachibana, yes), she was hooked. THIS IS MY GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT EVER, DO YOU KNOW WHY??

Cause now I could bribe her into watching adorable sports anime and dorama with me.

By which I mean "Tumbling".

I don't know if you guys remember this, but way back I started this dorama (I think when it aired?) but the subtitle group took almost two years to do the translations for the last two episodes (also RL got in the way) so I never finished it.

Now I did, together with ayawinner and OH MY GOD WHAT TO SAY. YOU GUYS. THIS IS THE BESTEST FUCKING SHOW ON THIS PLANET.

IT'S A SPORTS ANIME DORAMA.

BUT WITH IKEMEN.

ABOUT RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS. MEN'S RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS WHICH AIN'T A THING AROUND HERE AND I DON'T KNOW WHY CAUSE LOOK AT FUCKING THIS:

Granted, "Tumbling" 's.... well tumbling isn't on this level BUT THE ACTORS DID ALL OF THEIR STUNTS THEMSELVES AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU. WATCH IT. I IMPLORE YOU, WATCH IT, IT HAS SO MANY FEELS, AND SO MANY PRETTY LOOKING PEOPLE WITH SUCH WILD HAIR AND EVEN WILDER ATTITUDES AND EVERYONE IS CRYING AND BEST FRIENDS AND THEY HAVE SUCH TRAGIC REAL HONEST STORY LINES AND I JUST FELL OF MY CHAIR CAUSE I AM SO HIGH ON FEELINGS AND LAUGHTER AND JUST PURE GODDAMN EXCITEMENT.

I MADE A POWERPOINT FOR THIS OVER ON TUMBLR PLEASE CONTINUE TO STARE AT THEIR FACES A BIT MORE AND JUST BE... AMAZED AT PIGGY BACK RIDES, PUPPY PILES AND PRETTY GUYS CRYING BECAUSE THEY HAVE TOO MANY FEELS.

OH MY GOD.

DID YOU READ ALL THIS THIS IS WHAT MY LIFE HAS BEEN THESE PAST FEW DAYS, ALL CAPSLOCK, NO AIR, FEELINGS FEEEEEEEELIIIIIINGS.

OOOOOKAY this entry took way to fucking long already and I am supposed to get up in five hours to go to a family thing, but stay tuned for even mORE screaming about Japanese actors and their projects from five years ago because I can never be on a bandwagon when it's still going strong, AH GOD DAMN IT.
