"You must be very desperate to call on me in such matters."
"Oh, this talk is off to a wonderful start then, I see, thank you so much, Commander, I shall be on my way!"
"Dorian, wait... I am sorry but you must admit that I am probably not the finest expert on the field of... love."
"See, this is why I like you, Commander because if nothing else you are honest."
"Thank you... I guess."
"Also, have you looked at your possible competitors? Try to imagine me talking to... Vivienne or Cassandra in matters of ... infatuation. Or Sera. "
"Leliana would surely be able to offer solid advice though."
"Solid as in 'do take a very solid knife to his back and have your merry way with him', yes, but no. Necromancy has absolutely no place in the bedroom no matter what the rest of Tevinter says."
"What about the Inquisitor?"
"Are you still calling her the Inquisitor even though you two have shared the same bed and other remotely flat surfaces multiple times now?"
"Dorian!"
"Sorry, sorry, I am sorry, Commander, do you hear me I am very sorry, I do not know why I said that. Well other than that you are lovely when you are blushing."
"If you do not want my advice after all..."
"I do! Really, Commander, as much as it pains me to say this: I do need your help."
"Alright. I am in no mood for cruelty."
"Says the templar to the mage."
"Maker's breath, Dorian, shut your mouth and let me talk!"
"..."
"So, this lad you are in love with..."
"I'm not in love!"
"This lad you have taken a liking to..."
"Much better."
"Have you tried... talking to him? Getting to know him first might come in handy."
"There were words exchanged between us, yes. Very polite ones throughout the days."
"Good, good."
"And now?"
"I am not entirely sure. Maybe... a bouquet of flowers?"
"I am sad to inform you that despite my very good looks I am not twelve anymore, Commander, and neither is the object of my... affection."
"A stroll through the castle then? The western wall has excellent light in the evenings."
"I would not for the life of me compete against you and the Inquisitor for your favorite snogging spot."
"I am not entirely sure what you want me to say, Dorian. You are way more versed in the art of ... flirting than I am, so you should know how to woo the person in question shouldn't you?"
"I should, yes."
"But still you are here, talking to me, although you have laughed at my... ineptitude in matters of the heart numerous times. Could it be that you want this whole affair to fail?"
"What?!"
"What are you afraid of, Dorian?"
"I'm not afraid of anything!"
"I think you are. And I understand."
"How can you possibly understand what's going on when I don't even understand it myself?"
"You are not that complicated, Dorian."
"I hate to be on the receiving end of your honesty, Commander. But please, go on and tell me what supposedly haunts me. It will be entirely untrue and ridiculous of course, but I shall humor you anyway."
"Of course, Dorian."
"So?"
"You are afraid of death."
"As I said: ridiculous."
"Is it? You are afraid of getting hurt by a loved one dying so you will not allow yourself to pursue even the tiniest bit of happiness when you have the chance to do so. You do not dare look for joy because you always see the threat looming on the horizon, closing in on us every day."
"It is not ill-advised to be wary of the future especially when it is as bleak as ours!"
"No it isn't. When you are so convinced that you will be miserable later... why not find some peace and joy right now? Yes, we might get hurt and we might even suffer the loss of a loved one. Every day I am afraid that the Inquisitor will run out of luck and leave me behind, breathless, stupid with grief and blind. But then I remember the precious moments I got to spend with her. I'd rather have the memories of those than never felt her soft touch at all."
"I... I should have asked Leliana for advice. I must go."
"Whatever you say, Dorian. You will find her in the tower, I guess."
"Thank you, Commander."
