Harry Potter movie marathon
Jul. 13th, 2009 11:41 amWe don't seem to learn from our mistakes.
krawall, Princess Blueberry, Conan, Mäckie Messer and myself went through a whole night of wizards, owls, Dementors, werewolves and everything else related with "Harry Potter". From eleven p.m. to seven a.m until eyes and ears were bleeding and burning. XD
Although I have to admit that I was never really into the movies at all, I still found it interesting to see the change of quality between the second (I got spared the first movie because I had to watch "Cyrano" XD) and fifth movie. The second one was to put it bluntly boring to no end. Kenneth Branagh was indeed the only highlight that kept me sane during those two hours of hell -..- (apart from Snape of course XD). The third one however always manages to grab my attention and keep it until Sirius' and Remus' endearing hug in the Shrieking Shack, where my thoughts always take the train to Slashtown... "Sirius is better than Tonks!" XD
Last but not least, the fifth one which caught me in a whiny mood. I almost cried when Sirius fell through the veil although I totally despise that scene, because it is made of fail. Epic fail. -..- However: the emotions depicted in the book, the dimension of tragedy arising from the fact, that no one speaks with nobody, nobody tells anybody anything and everybody is left alone with his/her own problems (basically the main problem that Luna Lovegood points out in the midst of the movie, in order to help to ease Harry's pain) triggers grief and sympathy in poor Kiwi-baby, so much that I even remembered this heartbreaking scene when Harry - after his godfather's death - finds the communication-mirror that Sirius bestowed upon him just before he left Grimmauld Place. How cruel... the tool to speak to Sirius, to assure Harry of his almost-uncle's safety, was always near him. Only his pride kept him from using it... Great, I am crying again. XD
So please, dear people, let's somehow pay heed to this "moral of the story" and talk to each other a bit more often. Just a bit. And all the future Siriuses will be spared a cruel fate. *waves hug-signs*
,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Another completely useless detail: Today I bought my first "My little pony"-figure ever! =) She is called Sweetie Belle, a G2-unicorn-pony (at least that's what I think :D) and she is described as being "sweet and kind to everyone" (<- me :D). I had to buy her, because of the lollipops printed on her!

Date: 2009-07-13 06:35 pm (UTC)Harry Potter marathon, oh god! I mean, okay, I suppose it makes sense, now that we finally get the 6th movie. The quality really goes up, it's fascinating! I also like the 3rd one, but I'm still a bit miffed about the fact that they decided to keep the whole marauder's story out of it. I watched the movies before I read the books (yeah yeah, I know) and was always confused why Snape hated Sirius that much. As in "I don't care if the Dementors get you!". When I read the book it suddenly made sense. Perhaps a passing comment on how Sirius thought it would be funny to feed Snape to a werewolf could have been put in... no? Thought not.
Looking back on all of the movies I also like OotP the most. It's got a good dynamic, Umbridge is very much hate-able, and it's got the DA. And Snape. Yes, I watch the movies because of Snape. *g* But reading book 5 was irritating.. Harry, quit your whining and get on with it! I wanted to hit him sometimes. Of course I wanted to do much more cruel and painful things to Umbridge.
Fred and George, how I love thee! :)
Uhm yeah, what were we talking about? Oh, I see. You'll watch HBP in the cinema, right? I'll be in D'dorf on Friday to watch it there. *g*

Date: 2009-07-14 05:37 pm (UTC)Yeah, the marauders and the third movie...
I read the books before so I was convinced that everything was fine with the movies because I had all my facts together. First
when I bought the dvd and started watching the movie thrice a daywhen my friend asked me how the hell Lupin is able to work with the Marauder's Map, I watched it carefully and surprise surprise, you just don't get one single fact about Remus, Sirius, James or Peter.Effing hell?
The movie just leaves out one of the most important und beautiful friendship/hurt/comfort/trust/mistrust/betrayal-eras in the HP-universe (and one of my favorite too)! Excuse me, Mister Director but there were tons of moments where one could have dropped a small line about it. The last scene with Lupin, after he erases the map, for example.
"Professor?"-"Yes, Harry?"-"One thing kept buggin me. How do you know this map?" *mysterious grin* "It was our invention.James was Prongs, Sirus was Padfoot, Peter was Wormtail and I was Moony. Goodbye Harry."
There! Half a minute of dialogue, everything would have been... well not fine, but still better than the actual version. Why didn't they have me or anybody else, that actually
isa fan direct the movie? -..-Alltogether, the movies and the marauders don't seem to together at all: The left-out parts in PoA were quickly followed by the most promising and badly disappointing scenes of their past (bullying Snape inclusive)in OotP. Sorry, but shattering Harry's sacred picture of his daddy could have needed a bit more glory and attention, don't you think so?
Nonetheless as a Remus/Sirius-supporter the dialogue in the Shrieking Shack and the Remus-leans-against-the-door-and-looks-affectionately-at-Sirius-scene were at least tiny tributes to their friendship, even when James got left out (who needs him anyway mutters the fangirl...)
Ok, back to real problems: In D'dorf! Woah that is great! I wanted to go the premier but I have tickets for "Dance of the Vampire" at Wednesday evening (birthday present for my mum XD)so I will also have to wait till Friday before I can watch it in our tiny, little, ugly cinema around her. Cherioh for big-city-cinema! XD

Date: 2009-07-16 07:04 pm (UTC)Yes, if you've read the books before watching the 3rd movie it's all fine, because you automatically fill in the blanks. It could have been so easily solved, dammit! I never questioned how Fred and Goerge got that map, because, well, they're Fred and Goerge, but here it seemed just like a neat gadget or something. Hello?! That map was important!
Yeah yeah, who cares for James if you can have Sirius and Remus, eh? *g* I do understand that they tried to concentrate on Harry's story in the movies and that they couldn't leave everything in, but the marauders thing was kind of a big deal...
Yes, big city cinema FTW! :D I'm feeling just a tad bad for our local cinema, but you know... I've got that great university ticket for free train rides and stuff and the cinema next to Ddorf Hbf is just awesome! You'll probably still have fun in your tiny 100-people cinema. :P
"Dance of the Vampires"? The musical? If so, <3!
